FAQs

  • First, have a look through my galleries to get a feel for what you like. Then drop me an email at takenotecalligraphy@gmail.com or send me a message through my contact form. The more detail you can include the better: but your names, wedding date, venue, approximate guest count and the type of signage, stationery and items you like are a must.

At this point, I’ll offer a consultation call where we can discuss things in more detail, including timeframes, and I can answer any questions you may have.

I will then provide you with a full quotation. On agreement, I can get you booked in with a 50% non-refundable deposit and will send over my contact containing all the T&Cs. This secures your wedding date.

For semi-custom designs, I require your final wording and guest list 6 weeks prior to your agreed delivery/collection date. I’ll send you a full wording guide so you know exactly what to send to me, how and when. We will discuss dates in our consultation call.

‍Once I receive this, I’ll send over your mock up designs for approval before I start hand painting.

Your pieces will be ready for delivery/collection 2 weeks prior to your wedding date.

The remaining invoice balance is due prior to postage or collection.

Bespoke designs will require slightly different time-frames so please let me know in your initial email if it is bespoke design work you are looking for.

  • As soon as you find a supplier you love, I suggest you book! There is no such thing as too early. As a one woman operation, I only have capacity to take on a certain amount of weddings each year so if you love what you see and are keen for me to add my style to your day, get in touch.

  • Of course! I have a minimum spend of £500. If you want to secure your date but aren’t at the point of being ready to discuss specifics, this can be done with a deposit of £250 which will then be deducted from your final invoice.

  • Just outside the Lake District National park, between the mountains and the coast. The ruggedness of our Cumbrian landscape is probably where I get my love of organic texture from.

  • My local couples either collect from my studio or I deliver to your venue for a fee. This will be included in your quotation if requested. Alternatively, I ship across the UK using tracked delivery to ensure your items arrive safely.

  • For all of my semi-custom designs I work with sustainably sourced wood or fabric. However, I can write on just about anything: from candles, to ceramics, to bottles and mirrors, from windows to wheelbarrows, so if you have an idea, I would love to hear it!

Some couples ask me to work on acrylic and I absolutely can, it just isn’t my go to style given my love of texture. However, I will only work on 100% recycled Greencast acrylic. It might be more pricey but I won’t be part of adding to our planet’s plastic problem. I want your signage to leave an impression, not a footprint!

  • In short, no. I have spent years sourcing sustainable, high-quality materials that work impeccably together to give the best quality finishes.

I can never be sure how different cardstocks or paints will interact with my inks and I’m not prepared to risk it with your project. I pride myself on being a bit of a perfectionist and your day deserves no less.

That being said, if you have a mirror you would like me to write on, I am happy to do so but this will need to be delivered to me and collected from my studio.

  • Head to my About section for the full story but basically, in a world of mass production, I love the authenticity of something painted and lettered by hand. Every piece is unique and beautiful in it’s own way and that makes it worthy of a position in one of the best days of your life!

  • Absolutely! Indicative venue illustration costs can be found above in the Invitations section but I’m happy to add any illustrations to your designs . This will be at additional cost.

  • No. Pintrest is great for inspiration and sharing design elements that you like is fine, but I’m an artist and I wouldn’t want someone else copying my work so I won’t be copying anyone else’s. So if you like what you see and love my work, let’s get you booked in, but if someone else’s design work has your heart, get what you love and go buy it from them directly.

  • This is usually no problem. I take an upfront deposit of 50% of your quotation to secure your booking. Any additions can be made up to 6 weeks prior to collection or delivery subject to my availability. If you decide you want to add additional items, it is best to let me know as soon as possible so I can accommodate this into my schedule. The cost of additional items will be added to your final invoice.

  • When you agree your quotation and your booking is secured we will discuss a date when your wording will need to be sent to me. Don’t worry, I’ll provide a guide for this and will be on hand to answer any wording queries you may have.

  • Yes, changes can be made once the design is agreed. I always leave the table plan until last as this is the item most likely to change.

Before painting the table plan, I will email you to confirm if any changes are needed. This will be approximately 3-4 weeks prior to your wedding date. If there are any changes made after this and this has been painted, names will not be able to be changed.
